Yorkshire Dales Autograss
The Dales league were host to their annual Stu Nicholls Memorial meeting which was jam-packed full of exciting racing. The men, women and juniors all put on an excellent show for the prestigious title at the Thornborough circuit. The day started out to be a cold and drizzly one but the rain held off and, over the day, the drivers really managed to find some grip to create some bumper to bumper action.
Alice mentions: “With blossoming into the world of circuit racing, it’s ace to be able to jump into an Autograss car and reminisce back to where my racing career started in 2011, especially at Yorkshire Dales. The open races were brilliant. It was the first time I managed to race my younger sister, Bethany Hughes, which is a day i’ll remember for the rest of my life!”
Hughes took maximum Stockhatch points during the day after having some fantastic battles with Lauren Kelly, Caroline Wrigglesworth and Katy Cockshott.
Phil Sherwood, Chairman, says:
“An amazing amount of cars turned out as did the spectators. Fantastic quick, efficient incident free racing. The Champion of Champions race provided unbelievable entertainment but it was Graham Blackburn who took the lead on the last lap to retain the Memorial title. Thank you everyone for making the Stu Nicholls Memorial a fantastic meeting.”
